STORY: Finca La Bendicion is located in the Dipilto-Jalapa mountain range in Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua and consist of 105 acres planted with coffee. Of those 105 acres in coffee, Luis Alberto, the manager, grows a handful of varieties, like Caturra, Red Catuai, Villa Sarchi, Pacamara, Maracaturra, H-3, Marselleza, SL-34 and Java. Finca La Bendición has a loose sandy soil, with abundant humus and has an annual rainfall of between 1400 and 1600mm.
In addition, the farm has a rich biodiverse environment of fauna and flora, with an abundance of broad-leaved trees and conifer species. All of this together, creates for optimal coffee growing conditions.
The care and processing that goes into every lot is second to none, with careful detail at every stage. This SL-34 lot starts by bringing the cherries to the wet mill after careful picking. They are then floated and de-pulped and immediately taken to Beneficio Las Segovias to be laid on African Beds to dry for 25-30 days.
Luis Alberto received 6th place in the COE this last year, 3rd place in the COE in 2022, 6th place in 2021, 1st place in 2020, 1st and 5th place in 2018, as well as 3rd and 13th place in 2017…. he is no stranger to producing exceptional coffees!
We roast and ship every Monday & Thursday. Orders must be received by 5PM on Sunday and Wednesday to ensure it gets added to our production. Orders placed after 5PM on on Sunday and Wednesday will be roasted and shipped out the next production day.
